"Whatever" is the first non-album single by Oasis, released on December 18, 1994 under Creation Records.
Musician Neil Innes sued the band claiming the song borrowed portions from his song called, "How Sweet to Be an Idiot". The band and Innes reached an agreement out of court, and Innes gained songwriting credit.
"Whatever" was a commercial success, reaching #3 on the UK Singles chart and went on to sell 600,000 units. It was included on the group's compilation album, Time Flies... 1994-2009.
