Tony McCarroll was Oasis's original drummer. He features on the band's debut album, Definitely Maybe, as well as the single Some Might Say.

Departure[]

McCarrol was sacked from the band following a period of hostility between himself and lead guitarist and songwriter Noel Gallagher. Gallagher explained that "I like Tony as a geezer but he wouldn't have been able to drum the new songs". Alan White replaced him on drums.

In 1999, McCarroll hired solicitor Jens Hills, who had previously won Pete Best £2 million from The Beatles in 1995, to sue Oasis for £18 million by arguing McCarroll was owed his part of the band's five-album deal with Creation. The case hoped to set a legal precedent with McCarroll claiming compensation for two LPs on which he had not played. In March 1999, he accepted an out-of-court settlement of £600,000.
