Paul Francis McGuigan (born 9 May 1971), better known by his nickname, Guigsy (pronounced "Gwigzee"), is an English musician and one of the four founding members of the British rock band Oasis. He was the group's bassist from 1991- 1995. MuGugian returned to the band in 1995 before leaving for the final time in 1999.

The Rain and Early Oasis (Late 1980's- 1993)

Guigsy was one of the founding members of the Rain, along with Paul "Bonhead" Arthurs (guitarist ) , Tony McCarroll (drummer) and Chris Hutton (singer). Hutton was fired from the band and was replaced by McGuigan's old school friend Liam Gallagher. In 1991 Liam's older brother Noel Gallagher, joined the band as lead guitarist and chief songwriter. In June 1993 the band released "Live Demonstration" a demo tape. The tape had several songs which would appear on the bands debut album, Definitely Maybe. Those songs were: Columbia; Married With Children and Rock 'n' Roll Star. Following a gig at the King Tut's Wah Wah Hut, in Glasgow Scotland, in 1993 the band was offered a contract by Alan McGee, the co- owner of Creation Records. The band eventually singed the contract several months later and later singed a world wide contact with Sony, the band was then licensed to Creation Records in the UK.
